For your approval, I present The Barbicide as the official named drink of New York City ska band, Barbicide!
Barbicide is a more recent addition to the stable New York ska bands and features founding members of Mephiskapheles, Brendog and Mikal. A four-piece at the moment, they’ve got a great post-2-Tone sound firmly rooted in the ska beat and layered New York attitude.
For our cocktail, we’ve gotta take direct inspiration from their namesake to get that perfect blue hue, and strong enough to double as a sanitizer! A word of warning, this drink is not for the faint of heart, or the easily imbibed.
Ingredients
- Overproof Rum – Wray & Nephew is a good one
- Blue Curacao
- Simple Syrup
- Club Soda
- plastic comb
Recipe
In a shaker with ice add:
- 3 parts overproof rum to really get the party started
- 1 part blue curacao for the perfect hue
- 1 part simple syrup to take a bit of edge off the rum
Stir it all up in the shaker (or lightly shake, just don’t break up the ice too much)
Pour everything into a high ball glass (10-12 oz)
Top off with club soda or seltzer water
Add a black comb for pizzazz!
Enjoy your drink while listening to Barbicide, and stay away from sharp scissors!
